Today is a sad day. We have to say goodbye to our lovely cusp students, Mr. Smith and Mr Davies.
We have loved having you both in our class. We have had some amazing experiences. We especially liked the police visit. Oh and making a cake in our classroom and the different smells lessons. Also dancing reading maths. Lots and lots of cool things. We hope you carry on and become great teachers. We will all miss you heaps and heaps.

Our inquiry has led us to investigate different cultures and how they celebrate special events. First we celebrated Matariki the Maori New Year. This made us wonder how other cultures celebrated special events. We have looked at the Koi Carp festival in Japan and now we are completing Diwali the festival of the lights. We asked Mr Davies to draw Rangoli on our outside deck to welcome parents to  our shared lunch. We enjoyed coloring them in. They were fantastic. Our parents loved them. Diwali is a wonderful festival of lights and colour.

We are learning about other cultures and how they celebrate special events. We looked at the Indian celebration of Diwali. It means the festival of lights. We made Lanterns to celebrate Diwali.
Our lanterns look super.

 The Milk
By Trinity
Today we had a plate on our table with milk in it. We mixed colors in the milk. They were blue and red and yellow and black. Then Mrs Ward put some dishwashing liquid in the milk. When the liquid went in the colors it started to move. It was awesome.
The Milk Miracle
By Shivansh
The milk miracle is a science experiment. You poor milk in a plate. You put in food coloring. After that pour in dishwashing liquid. It's very colorful. That's why it's named the milk miracle.

What a fantastic week at water world. We had awesome coaches Grace, Britany and Shawn. Thank you for having us. We will be back next year.

Monday 27 July 2015

Today Mrs Ward threw all the beans onto the floor and told us to count them. We thought that if you put them into groups of 10 we could count them easier. Lachlan, Shivi and Luke got 270. Saskia got 66. Arie got 107. We added all these up and got 443. We are super clever!!!!!

Matariki Art
By Lachlan
This week we have been working so hard to make a korowai. It looks so beautiful on the wall that I can't take my eyes off it because it looks superb. We made it out of paper feathers that we coloured in. We used these three colors, orange yellow and brown.

The Korowai
By Aria
Yesterday we made a korowai. It looks amazing. I don't think any other class has a korowai that fantastic. The korowai is on the wall where our word work is. I wish we had a hundred of them.

Our Fabulous Korowai
By Shivi
This week we made super tremendous feathers to make a korowai. Do you know what a korowai is? I don't know what it is. Tomorrow we're going to make some vegetable soup to share with our parents and we are going to share our art with them.
